Tomatin and Cromdale met again on Tuesday night this time on league business. Their last encounter was that epic cup match and this time Tomatin managed to turn the tables by winning the game 3 - 2.

This was another close game between the sides at Raigbeg with the first half hour pretty even it was the home side who took the lead on 32 minutes. It came from a Callum Ferguson free kick which skidded awkwardly on the wet surface in front of Bruce Sellars and although the keeper managed to stop the shot it landed at the feet of Jason MacDonald who pushed it towards the goal line only for Alex Hamilton to steal it off him from 2 yards out.

The visitors struck back within 8 minutes to level the match when Conan Quinn run onto a throw in and despatched the ball well past Garry Stuart from 12 yards out. There was no more goals and half time arrived with matters even.

Into the second half and Tomatin went back in front with a lovely diving header by Callum Carson from a cross by Ferguson. the next period of play saw chances for both teams but neither were able to capitalise on their efforts. As the game entered its latter stages the drama from last weeks cup tie returned when Cromdale equalised on 85 minutes. A poor defensive header across goal resulted in the ball falling to substitute Liam Sellars inside the six yard box and although he did not connect properly with his shot which seemed to deceive Stuart in the goal and it somehow trickled over the line.

Tomatin seemed determined to make amends for their cup defeat and threw everything at their visitors in the last five minutes and with only a couple of minutes left they sealed the victory with a good close range headed goal from Jason MacDonald following a nice corner kick from Hamilton. This game was played in good spirits once again throughout which made referee Eric Robertson,s task an enjoyable one.

Tomatin must be pleased with their start to the season and will be hoping to hang onto their current third place in the league.
