It was second place against third tonight at Aviemore as RBL welcomed Tomatin to the 4G pitch.
The game got off to an explosive start with the home team scoring within the first minute. It came from a harmless through ball which Jamie Edwards was in control off but his weak back pass to young stand in keeper Duncan was woefully short allowing Rory McKinnon the easiest of chances to round the goalie and walk the ball into the net.
RBL controlled the next half hour of the game taking advantage of a fairly strong breeze which saw the visitors hemmed in their own half. They extended their lead after 35 minutes with a good strike from Alan Docherty from 22 yards left James Duncan deputising for Garry Stuart in the Tomatin goal with no chance.
After the interval Tomatin began to play more like they have been in recent games and with the wind advantage took the game to their opponents. Despite forcing a number of corners and a few close efforts they could not get that all important goal in order to get themselves back into the match.
As time was running out Tomatin did get a consolation goal when Alex Hamilton finished off from close range. There was less than a minute left at this point and RBL secured the three points together with second place in the league.
Tomatin have now completed all their league games and can be very proud of their performance in finishing third, their highest ever placing together with their best points tally in the clubs history.
This Friday will see the start of the last cup of the season with all the teams eyeing up a place in the semi finals.
