Tomatin entertained Aviemore RBL on Friday night for this cup semi final. With only one place separating the teams in the league you would expect a rather tight affair however it turned out to be an unusual 90 minutes.

The visitors opened the scoring early on with a goal from ???? Tomatin then seemed to move up a few gears and took total control of the match and levelled things with a goal from Alex Hamilton after a fine cross from Allan Edwards. The same player was on target again soon after this by converted a nice free kick past the helpless rbl keeper.

There was no let up by Tomatin who were now rampant and Alan "Bart" Bartlett got a rare goal when he scored from close rage following a corner kick. The home team then made it 4-1 when Lewis MacKay ran down the right and he shot low across and past the keeper. As half time approached Tomatin added a 5th this time Murray Fraser played a one - two with Hamilton and as Fraser received the return ball he fired in a 25 yarder to make an amazing half time score of 5 - 1.

This was Tomatin,s home cup and a place in the final looked on the cards but RBL had other ideas in a pulsating 2nd half. They quickly pulled a couple of goals back to get themselves right back into this tie. The home team then lost Alan Edwards through injury and it caused a big hole in the middle of the park which RBL exploited. The visitors then scored another two quick goals to level this incredible game. Tomatin were now somewhat shell shocked and with time running out RBL fired home a killer blow to win the match 6 - 5.

This was devasting for Tomatin but you must praise the comeback shown by Aviemore.

The final will take place this Friday at Tomatin between Grantown and RBL
